As a small, family orientated business, RX Automotive offer friendly and reliable service. Building a relationship with their customer is more important than simply taking their money and fixing their car.

Background

Old RX Automotive Workshop Simon Harrex established RX Automotive in 1975 and set up the first workshop at the Golden Fleece Service Station in Toowong, QLD. His mechanical experience and workshop success afforded him the opportunity to indulge in motorsport and he has raced for teams such as Castrol, Q-Ford, Patrichs and of course his own RX Automotive Team. Naturally his passion for racing led to him branch out in to race car fabrication and he has established a reputation for building fast, reliable and nimble cars.

With wife Carol looking after administrative duties Simon quickly established a successful workshop specialising in servicing BMW’s and BMW performance enhancement. The increasing popularity of older series racing prompted RX Automotive to branch into a new market in need of servicing. Race car fabrication and preparation now makes up approximately 50% of their workload.

Simons passion for motorsport has been passed on to his son Pierz who also works for RX Automotive and regularly races the workshops two E30 BMW’s in both circuit events, hill climbs and sprints.

Race Team

Red and Blue E30's at Hillclimb Racing is in RX Automotives blood. Simon has raced for over 46 years and has competed in many series including a stint for Q-Ford in the ex Dick Johnson XD Falcon at Bathurst 1984. His success and passion for racing is genetic as his son Pierz has been racing for 9 years in various series.

Currently RX have two vehicles of their own in regular competition as well as several vehicles they have built and maintain for other competitors. Richard Greshams 1971 BMW 2002 and Danny Menneguzzo's BMW E30 Sports Sedan are two standout examples of RX Automotive’s build quality and dedication to the BMW brand.

With the popularity of the Improved Production race series increasing RX Automotive are kept busy maintaining a small fleet of dedicated track cars for their loyal and satisfied customers.
